Priestly Identity in the Church Today – Its Challenges and Implications – Part 1

In this keynote address to an assembly of priests at Holy Trinity Seminary in Dallas, TX, Bishop Murphy delivers the first of two parts of his speech on the crisis of priestly identity in the Catholic Church. He breaks down this address into four tasks: 1) Assess the reality of the issues at hand, 2) Determine how these issues have been addressed in light of the Gospel and the faith tradition we share, 3) Reflect on the doctrine and heritage of the Roman Catholic Church and 4) Look to the future to gauge in what path the church needs to take in order to fulfill its mission and ministry.
