The gift of liturgy

Archbishop Murphy dedicates his weekly “In Joy and Hope” column for the Catholic Northwest Progress to the liturgy. “The liturgy is the experience which celebrates our faith and brings our faith community together to worship God and to appreciate the mystery of Christ and the nature of the true church,” said the archbishop. “It is in liturgy that we meet God and God meets us.” He discusses some of the key reforms and traditions of the liturgy emanating out of the Second Vatican Council. One of the most prevalent being that all the faithful should be led to that full, conscious and active participation in liturgical celebrations.
