Rite of Election 1988 – First Sunday of Lent

The theme of Archbishop Murphy’s homily at the Rite of Election Mass celebrated in St. James Cathedral in Seattle, WA was the call from God each of the catachumens present in the audience hears. It is a call from God to grow in faith – one that demands a full and active response. He concluded by stating, “We celebrate tonight the journey which all people take in faith if they dare to walk with the Lord. It is not a popular journey nor an easy one. But it is a journey that can make all of the difference.”
