Labor Conference

In his opening remarks at a Labor Conference, Archbishop Murphy reaffirms the partnership the church and organized labor share in safeguarding the well-being of our community. “The common ground which brings us together today is to seek ways to preserve and enhance family values by daring to go beyond the rhetoric and to seek concrete ways to put children and families first in our social agenda,” said Archbishop Murphy. He decries the failure of our nation to adequately protect millions of children – that the world has become such a hostile and dangerous place for them to live. The archbishop expresses his hope that all parties in society will give up their private interests to extend a helping hand to families and children in need.
